Earth Day

I look at today as a good reminder to be a good steward of what God has given us - and I found this article to be full of some practical ways to help with that task. I'm constantly looking for ways (that are attainable to us) to be better stewards of what God has given us. I'd LOVE a bunch of brand new, energy efficient appliances (like a new washer & dryer) but that is not going to happen right now, which I am okay with. But I can do some of the other things on this list.

I like this part of her opening statement:

"...I am into good stewardship. To me, being intentionally eco-friendly has more to do with celebrating God’s creativity, being wise with what He’s given us, and passing on those values to the next generation than it does with pressing some government agenda..."

So, happy stewardship-of-the-earth day! What changes have you made - or do you need to make - to be a better steward of what God has given us?

This year we're planting a garden - our first!! We also stopped using paper cups and are using REAL cups to save on the paper waste. It's small, but it's a start!

I love your quote about earth day so I'm going to put it on my blog.
I read the article and found I did most of what was listed.
For your garden friends you can go to starbucks and ask for their coffee grounds and put them in your compost bin.

It helps make the best compost.

I love the handy work of God.
Happy stewartship day

I need to remember to use my cloth shopping bags! So often I rush out the door and leave them at home.

We're hoping to start a worm compost bin this summer and a small garden.

Now if I could only psych myself up to doing cloth diapers again . . .

Wait a second, Alicia doesn't use cloth diapers anymore?!?!

I can't say I do a whole lot. I don't recycle because I just don't have room in my 600 sq. ft apartment to store junk. BUT. . . I don't buy paper plates and I use plastic left over containers rather than disposable baggies. And while I do use grocery bags, each and everyone one of them gets reused.

composting is our biggie - and we grow almost all of our own veggies and then freeze them - I am too much of a weenie to can! They don't offer recycling in the small town were I live but Steve and I are looking for a place close to BSU's campus we could at least take our plastic and aluminum!

I LOVE the cloth grocery bags! love love!
