We've got a Live Wire!

Last night I was surprised by a solid hour and a half of baby movement. I hadn't eaten anything funky or full of sugar, so I was definitely taken off guard. This movement was pretty intense, putting a L.O.T. of pressure that I would normally say only would be felt in labor. It honestly felt like the baby was trying to swim out of my body. Interesting. So at 11:15 (after about 45 minutes of this) I called my midwife who talked me through things and offered to come over. Neither of us were sure that there were not actual contractions involved. We prayed together over the phone, then I laid down and tried to sleep. It was an interesting night of restless "sleep."

She's making a house call this morning. Can I just say, it's great to have a midwife? Who makes house calls? And now I will go sit on the couch with a large glass of pregnancy support tea and put my feet up while Aaron watches PBS. Sometimes, ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and not feel guilty about excess TV.

Isn't that stuff funded by the US Department of Education? *laughing my head off*

Wow, sounds like you had quite the night, and that your body is gearing up for the birth! Exciting times!

I'm keeping you in prayer! Get lots of rest and definitely don't feel guilty about the TV. I ended up using that a lot at the end of Josiah's pregnancy, too. :)

OK, as someone who has never been pregnant, I'm not sure how to feel about this description: "It honestly felt like the baby was trying to swim out of my body."

It's really neat that you have a midwife who prays with you AND does house calls!

Wow, it sounds like you better get as much rest as possible now. And maybe read up on Hyperactive Disorder while your sitting there with your feet up :)
How wonderful that you have someone that you can call and come to your home! Do you have someone making dinner for you also? Hey, if not, let me know... I'll be there! (What else are great-aunties for?) Continuing to pray for you and your busy little person!!!

The midwife just left, and everything is looking fine. Apparently, we just have an active little person! She said sometimes this can happen after a busy day, which we had yesterday. I guess all the errands we did yesterday (and laundry, housekeeping, entertaining Aaron, etc) felt like I was rocking baby to sleep and maybe the baby decided to wake up the minute I sat down to put my feet up!

Hopefully this little one will be born BEFORE the due date, because WHEW was that intense! Carrie, I hope you are right about gearing up for birth. Two more weeks would be perfect. :-)

Ruth, sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!

Aunt Rosemary, thanks! How sweet of you! Dinner is covered courtesy of my crock pot, the best invention EVER. :-)

Thanks for the update. Sounds like everything is under control. Thank goodness for crockpots!

Yep, PBS saves the day again.

I find the same thing happens with me- finally sit down and relax and that's when the baby tries to escape. Or that's what it feels like anyway. I'm glad we can share this together. :)

My baby is super active a lot...last week I got nausaus with all the movement (rare this late)I think he may have flipped - about 100 times but maybe ended head down. I thought he was suppose to be running out of room to move around. Not my little guy...and he definately moves more when I'm sitting. Hope you won't go this early.

Isn't it funny when your doctor/midwife asks you to log your baby's movements in a 2 hour period of time and you get 100+ movements :)? It sounds like your little person meets his/her quota and then some! You must be getting sooo very excited to meet this active little baby. I'm praying for you!

Jenny,

Hi! I haven't been able to catch up with your blog in a very long time. . .But I was just reading over some suggestions that were given to me on a post from last year (on what to read before having a baby). I read through yours again and am looking forward to reading the books that you mentioned!

I just thought I'd pop by really quick and thank you. . .hopefully I did that a long time ago. . .but just in case. . .;)

Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. . .if you have any more book recommendations, send them my way! ;)
