I think I might just be well suited to arctic climes. When I checked on the ten day forecast for our town, I was disheartened to see that it appears my cool, dry summer is about to heat up and get more humid. I laughed as I began to "despair" over a week of 80's & 90's and the humidity that will undoubtedly come with it. I've been very blessed thus far to have enjoyed mostly days in the 70's and low 80's without much humidity. And we do have a couple window air conditioners, so I really can't complain.
Poor Aaron - he wanted to go to the park this afternoon. I told him it was too hot for mommy today. And then felt guilty and played lots with him, inside our cool house. Maybe later this week we will try out the splash park or something.
But we will see - I'm really, really wimpy about the humidity. Really, I am.
So what is your neck of the woods looking like for the next ten days or so? How do you beat the heat?
And, because I'm curious, what is your ideal INDOOR temperature?

I'm wimpy too! I was dying today. I went outside as least as possible. My ideal indoor temp is about 75 with windows open. Which is weird, because air-conditioned 76 is too cold for me sometimes!
Wahh, Wahh! Just kidding - I don't do well with heat either! It's been in the high 80's/low 90's or higher for weeks now! I am SO thankful for my air conditioned house! Idealy, 72-74 is perfect for me!!!
You should be wimpy about heat - you're pregnant! Carrying around a baby is no fun in the sticky hot weather. I like about 74 indoors. Matt on the other hand would like 68!
In the winter I leave the heat set at 72. But in the summer 75 is about perfect.
For the first time in all my pregnant history I noticed swelling on my legs today. Does the heat and humidity make that worse? I've never been big-pregnant in the summertime!
Well, today's temp was 98 degrees and humid. Tomorrow we go to the zoo, so we'll see how long this pregnant momma can withstand the heat! Enjoy your 80 degree weather.
My daughter is celebrating her 38th birthday and I still remember how hot it was this week in 1970!!! I feel bad for you. How our grandkids 'beat the heat'? Go to Grandma and Grandpa's house!!!! We just had all three grandkids (plus two 'grandcats') here for 6 days, and one grandkid plus her sweet cat is still here (for who-knows-how-long???). How did they keep cool? Let's see: 1) eat bunches of grapes, dishes of watermelon, gallons of ice cream. 2) Drink gallons of juice and milk. 3) do crafts in the screen tent in the shade of the backyard. 4) splash in the inflatable pool in the front yard. 5) turn on a fan and read, play lego, build with modeling clay, draw, watch 'CREATE TV' and Nature programs on PBS (oh, yes! and Saturday morning cartoons for the boys!!!) 6) eat some more ice cream and fruit. I hope that you and Aaron find some fun COOL things to do too.
I think it might depend on where you are from. I've always been from an area with heat and humidity. Not that I love it, but I would rather have that than super long winters and snow in May!
Today it's perfect and will be until September. We tend to have no humidity. and I love the 7o's to the 80's. It's cool in the mornings and evenings. Occassionally it will get above that like when your parents came to visit.

Today has been relatively cool and cloudy with a lovely breeze. At 5:30 pm, it is 91', 43% humidity. Tomorrow they are forecasting thunderstorms, which would be wonderful. It can get much worse here, and only fans, no AC. To say cool, we go to the pool, AC room at the REC Center, drink tons of water, or soak our clothes and just lay under the fan.
It's funny that you ask what my ideal indoor temperature would be because I am sitting at my desk at work with a fleece jacket on. I work with all men who think that the thermostat should be on 65 year round. I am really wimpy in relation to cold-ness, so I love the 80's & 90's. The humidity does make it worse, but I'd so much rather be hot than cold.
OoO I love it chilly inside.. like 72.... and I love the splash park !! we have one!! I always took my EB toddlers there!! so FUN!!! good idea!!
You are Wimpy! haha...4 out of the next 6 days we will be in the low 90's here. The other two days upper 80's. I don't think you would survive here while pregnant. :-) Trust me when its upper 90's we stay indoors.
We keep our air at 74 during these hot days. We could probably even stand to raise it a little, but I get hot and uncomfortable easily and like the be cool and comfy. At night we have it set on 76 and sometimes I wake up and turn it down. (rarely) I haven't had any hot flashes, at night, yet with this pregnancy. I'm sure they are coming!
73 with no humidity in the house!! I agree I hate hot weather its the humidity that kills me and makes me swell. My feet and hands and then I get cranky b/c I am sweating like a stuck pig!!!
