eggs, of the goose variety

Obedience brings blessing, disobedience does not. It's true. I knew it before, and I've felt its sting personally, but to see it illustrated in my child is painful at a completely different level.

"Aaron, come here" was met by complete disregard for his mother's instructions and left this unsightly, and I'm sure uncomfortable, consequence:

Head, meet concrete. Concrete, head.

In that moment, I wanted to take the pain away, to rewind time, to somehow make it so that my precious child would not have to go through the circumstances. And then it dawned on me. How many times have I gotten these on my own spiritual head? How many times must I fall? God, grant me a swift memory and an obedient spirit. And wisdom to teach this boy the truth about You. I disobey, I fall, I get hurt. You always, always pick me up. And Your Love never changes, never fails.

Owwwww! Poor boy.

Right now I'm longing for the simple days of bruises and bumps as consequences... but it has been a long few days chez nous.

Oh my!!! I hope that Aaron's poor head is feeling better today. Wouldn't you love to be able to go back in time and prevent these kind of things from happening? I've 'been there - done that' too ...too many times with our kids and grandkids, especially with our son Dan...The worse one I guess was.."You kids stay away from the riding lawn mower while I go to town to get more gas..it's hot!" What do you think Dan did as soon as his dad was out of the driveway? Yup, climbed on the side of that mower and burned his belly on the exhaust pipe...BAD. Eventually he did learn to obey orders and as an adult, Dan and his wife Kelly volunteer as emergency medical/firefighters to help others who have been injured, since they both know TOO WELL what that is like !!! Hopefully Aaron doesn't have so many injuries in his childhood that he feels that he also should repay his debt for all the times that he was patched up. BE SAFE - DEAR LITTLE BOY!!!

Ouch little man! I think you've beat Jonas in the severity of bumps!
Jonas' knees have met the concrete twice this week, scrapes, blood and all. I'm sure there is plenty more to come this summer!

Carmen, did the same thing Aaron did except she tripped over a concrete door jam in the garage and fell on her face scraping the side it looked horrible. But after that she would listen to me better for a while anyway.
