Provisions. Can I get an AMEN?

You've heard how you can get Omaha Steaks to deliver quality ground beef for less than you can buy it in the store, right? Well, if not, be sure to check it out. I ended up getting 9 pounds of meat for 11.98. (I chose the 22.99 option) That is what I call a good deal. Last week I found boneless skinless chicken breasts at our local meat market for $1.49 and bought 20 pounds, so after my burger shipment, we will be eating VERY well for a very very long time.

Praise the LORD for His provisions!!

And while I'm praising the Lord for providing, I called Charter yesterday to see what we could do in order to get our internet/phone bill down. We've opted to get only the most basic cable package (it costs $4/month and saves us in the long run since we have "all three services" according to Charter)

Anyway, my call ended up reducing our bill by a little over $20/month! (the key is to choose "change or add to existing service" to get an English-as-a-first-language customer service rep) The nice rep I got transferred me to the "retention department" - who knew that even existed?! Sometimes it pays to call and ask!! (now I'm trying to figure out what OTHER BILLS I can get reduced around here...)

Terrific! Ah...now what to make... If you need ideas for variety, I love this gal's articles http://www.fractured.net/article/oamc-hamburger-plan.html and http://www.fractured.net/article/oamc-chicken-plan.html. She uses a 'bulk cooking' 'assembly-line' approach, but I enjoy her recipes that can be made using smaller amounts and regular prep. Enjoy your plenitude :)

I missed out on the omaha steak deal - they got wise and changed it on me when I went to redeem it today. SO glad that you got in on the great price though!

I so got a kick out of your "to get an English as a first language service rep" comment. I know it was a complete side note to the post, but I felt the same way as you when I was trying to accomplish something on the phone -- can't I just talk to someone who understands and can be understood. Now... I'm on the other side of the equation. I'm the one who goes shopping or is at church or anywhere for that matter in a second language and people get frustrated with me. Yesterday, I was charged the wrong price ($2 difference) for these two items, but I couldn't explain it well enough to get it fixed. The lady looked at me like I was so dumb as I struggled along which made me struggle even more. I wanted to look at her and say, "I'm not stupid. When I speak English, I can put a sentence together intelligently." But I don't know the vocab or sentence construction for all that... :-)

Praise the Lord for His provisions.
