Monday, December 31

these are the lazy, crazy, hazy days...

1. Lazy. Yes, we would appear to be, from an outsider's perspective. Napping, staying home, sleeping in, etc. We prefer to call this the "recovery period."

2. Crazy. In the past 2 1/2 weeks, we have had much happy craziness. Family visits in CO & OH have kept us running. We're home for the long haul, we've been to the grocery store to replenish our fridge, and hopefully we're not going crazy any more. Michael returns to work on the 2nd, Nate & Lissa are visiting through the end of the week, and after that I am sure our life will be back to the "boring" craziness we call normal.

3. Hazy. We're fighting some crazy upper respiratory bug, and hard. Aaron's coughing and hacking, Michael's down for the count, and I'm emerging, victorious. I hope. That was round 2 for me.

I feel as if I've been absent from the blogging world for years. So much to catch up on, so many "what I made for Christmas" posts to write...

Until then, happy last day of 2007! Wasn't it a great year? God is so gracious. Any family traditions for reflecting on His Works that you'd like to share?

I like to keep a large shoe box in my closet, wherein I toss little mementos throughout the year...such as sporting event tickets, notes I've jotted down--answered prayer, significant dates, ultrasound photos, wedding or funeral programs, cards, snapshots, and the like. I have a "no peeking" rule throughout the whole year! Then, on New Years Eve (before midnight), we go through the box together and reminisce about the year & God's great goodness to us. It's really fun!

Admittedly, though, I fear the box will be far less stuffed than it was last year. Something about chasing a toddler around...

Jenny,
We just got back from visiting our families in MI! I love visiting but we get so tired!!!
I am so mad I forgot to take pictures of all the things I made for Christmas. I took some ideas from your blog and some links that you had. The heated rice pack was a huge hit! (I can't remember where I got the idea from I KNOW it was somewhere on your blog)

I also keep a box in my closet with memories from weddings and funeral programs and mementos and cards. After 29 years It was over taking my closet and I sat down last year and reduced my 29 boxes to 4. I look over things one more time as I tossed them out and realized what a busy life I've had.
I kept the cards the girls made or Eric gave me and everything else went.
