Blogging Break

We leave today for vacation in Colorado! Hurray for God's provision and goodness in allowing us to visit our family.

Please pray for us as Aaron is traveling for the first time on an airplane. We leave at 6:45 pm and as that is very close to his bedtime, it could either work for us very well (ie, he sleeps) or backfire on us (ie, he screams) Please pray that we would handle the situation with grace.

and that we wouldn't get kicked off the plane for having a screamer.

Merry Christmas to you all!!

Hey Jenny,
I'll be praying for you. Silas has been on several plane trips and I have nearly worn myself out being concerned with everything that might happen. I found that having lots of amusing books and toys and a lot of snacks and anything else that will be comforting or familiar to him helps. Silas has surprised me several times by falling asleep as we were taking off (I've held him in my lap every trip so far.)! I think the roar of the engines helps. He also liked to look out the window. We've only struggled once with him crying loudly and that wasn't that bad. I'm glad that you'll have Michael with you. The hubby being there is SUCH a blessing. Silas and I flew to Denver and back by ourselves but that wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Praise the Lord! I know there are a lot of people that give meds or the like to their kids in hopes that it'll help (with sometimes the opposite results I've been told), and I've been sorely tempted to do that. Silas has never really needed the meds though, so I couldn't justify giving them to him. (I don't want to judge those who do give them. They know their kids best!) I did bring along chamomilia tablets though. It's a natural herb that's calming and won't hurt him at all. My MIL recommended the little pills to us since they dissolve immediately in the child's mouth. I've used different kinds, but the ones that have dissolved best were made by Hyland's. (They make different ones for traveling and other needs.) Silas likes them a lot. I think he believes any pill is candy! You may already be acquainted with chamomilia, but I thought I'd mention it. You can usually find it at a vitamin or health food store. It did help Silas on the plane and with teething.
One other thing... we were out in CO back in February when Silas was just over a year old. I think he had a little bit of altitude sickness. I made sure the next time we went out that I had him drink a lot, and just tried to watch him closely to make sure he was ok. I talked to a manager lady at a vitamin store there and she recommended giving him some liquid chlorophyll (it sounds awful, but it actually has been helpful to us even just here at home) the next time to help with the oxygen thing. I don't quite understand it, but Silas did much better this last time out. Anyway, I hope that Aaron does great while you're there! I just figured I'd throw out that info just in case Aaron struggled too.
Well, this comment is probably the longest in blog history, so I'll go. I'll be praying for you all! Have a lovely time!!
