and how exactly do you do that?

Michael and I were watching the news last night - and heard the words "vac*ine recall." I will not even begin to tell you how angry that made me. OK, yes I will.

When you recall toys, you can send them back. When you recall a vac*ine? Not so simple. "Hello, we are here to retrieve the bacteria that inadvertently was injected into your child. This will just take a minute."

"This is not a major health concern" the manufacturers say, and in the same breath that they also say "there is no way to tell how many children received a dose."

Some people have other soapboxes. This is mine. No matter how you feel about vac*ines, just please, please make sure you do your research so that your children can have medical treatment and prevention of disease in the safest possible way. And in the way God leads you. But please, PLEASE do your research first.

When I read the news last night I reacted the exact same way. If we had chosen to vaccinate Cian, he would have had his 2 month shots (including the HIB vaccination) this month. After lots of research and prayer we decided against vaccinating. There's just far too many unknowns at this time.

You sure do have a right to be upset. What gets me is that they said "there is not way to tell how many children received a dose" of the contaminated vaccine. When I took my dog to the vet for a rabies immunization (required by law - and well, I sure don't want my dog dying of rabies!), the vet recorded all the information about the rabies shot - the batch of the vaccine, etc. Shouldn't the same information be kept by MDs for children's vaccines? If there was a bad rabies vaccine out there, I bet we would know exactly which dogs got it! Where are our priorities?

What resources did you study/read for your research about vaccinations? I've never asked anyone, and I was just curious. :)

I read about this in the newspaper yesterday and it upset me, too. We don't vaccinate, so our kids are not affected by the "recall," but it is frustrating the lengths that the drs. go to, to assure people of how safe the vaccines are, and then something like this comes up. Maybe one good thing is that it may get more people to research vaccine safety in general.

(BTW, I am not anti-doctors; I just find it frustrating that many of them completely dismiss concerns about vaccines.)

Amen sister...I do hope as recalls like this happen more people become concerned and question the safety of all vaccines and their dear little ones. The topic of vaccines has been in the news a lot lately. We are still only part of 8% that don' do it. I didn't know this percentage until I read an article yesterday.
I have personally been shocked and concerned over a person close to me, who just chose to vaccinate after doing research. I know she could have done more research. But I know they made it a matter of prayer and were at peace with their decision. God is still the ultimate physician and protector. I've had to trust him even more lately.
