Near the Cross

 This song has been going through my head this week - my prayer in the midst of this crazy world.  Thank you, Fanny Crosby, for your timeless words of truth.
  1. Jesus, keep me near the cross,
    There a precious fountain—
    Free to all, a healing stream—
    Flows from Calv’ry’s mountain.
    • Refrain:
      In the cross, in the cross,
      Be my glory ever;
      Till my raptured soul shall find
      Rest beyond the river.
  2. Near the cross, a trembling soul,
    Love and Mercy found me;
    There the bright and morning star
    Sheds its beams around me.
  3. Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
    Bring its scenes before me;
    Help me walk from day to day,
    With its shadows o’er me.
  4. Near the cross I’ll watch and wait
    Hoping, trusting ever,
    Till I reach the golden strand,
    Just beyond the river.

This is such a great song. So, do you have all these stanzas memorized? I would imagine singing in the college choir would have caused you to be required to memorize many of these good hymns. That is a wonderful thing!

Mom, I think I might have most of the stanzas memorized but for some reason song memorization has always been easy for me. :-) It is even helping me learn all the great stuff Aaron is memorizing for school!
