the latest (pray your guts out)

Well, Michael & I went to the dr. on Friday and I was dilated to 1, and 50% effaced, so that was a little discouraging. I went straightaway to the health food store and have, since then, consumed over 3 gallons of red raspberry leaf tea. I also walked my swollen feet to a bloody pulp in the air conditioned and ever entertaining Midland Mall.

bottom line. none of these things moved me.

Today we went in again for a non-stress test and exam, and I'm still dilated to a 1. Dr. Jordahl explained that the non-stress test looks okay, not horrible, but he'd like to see more accellerations of the baby's heartbeat. He thinks Little Muth is running out of room (no kidding). So, tonight at 7 we go in to the hospital and get some Cervadil going, I get to spend the night in the beautifully decorated (but still slightly uncomfortable) MidMichigan Medical Center. Tomorrow morning, the lovely (and dreaded) Pitocin will begin.

It's a little rough for me to get over my ideals about how labor & delivery should go. I was pretty adamant about going all natural, and adjusting my expectations is taking a little longer than it should. I'm disappointed, but I do know that God knows best, and will accomplish His perfect plan in His perfect timing.

But...I (and Michael) would appreciate your prayers. We need to make sure our attitudes stay right during this time. I guess we were both hoping that things would go differently, and we want what is best for everyone, especially our little baby. We want, more than anything else, for God to be glorified in our experience at the hospital and it would really be bad if my stinky attitude got in the way of that.

The good news?? Chances are, we will meet our little one tomorrow. YAY! We will be posting updates as we get a chance!!!

your in my thoughts and prayers! I've been checking that hospital website often! I know this wasn't "planned" but isn't it awesome that this has been God's plan all along! :) we love you and can't wait to see your new addition! May the Lord of all peace give you a calm undescribable in this uncertain but exciting time!!

Jenny, this may or may not encourage you--but I have a good friend who has been at the same point as you, twice. BOTH times, her water broke the night before she was to be induced. So, you never know!! I will definitely be praying that your labor starts on it's own so you won't need the pitocin. I completely understand your desire for a natural labor, and will be praying that God will allow you to have one, but if not, that he will give you both the grace to accept a different plan. :) Meantime, keep on drinking the tea (worked for me!!) and trying whatever else to can to get things moving. I can't wait to hear the news of Little Muth's safe arrival!!! :)

And, yay for getting so much done on your house!!! You will be in before you know it.

We'll be praying for you. I had pitocin with both of my girls. Labor wasn't that bad with it (and at least it was shorter than the 12-24 hours they estimate for first time labor). Looking forward to meeting your little one over the web!

Hey we are praying for you guys. We might be in the hospital at the same time. Little Caedmon is coming any day and Renee think maybe this week. With our first Renee's water broke with no contractions so they induced as well. In the end healthy baby is the goal, however God chooses to glorify Himself every time. That is our rest. Love you guys. Life in my opinion begins about now!!!!AN

We'll definitely be praying for you! God's ways aren't always our ways, so it's comforting to know that He always knows best, and that in the end, He WILL be glorified! I can't wait to hear the story of little Muth! Love you guys!

Jenny, They did the same thing with me. I never went in to labor on my own either. The good thing is pregnancy will soon be over! Yeah! And at least you won't need the rubber pants anymore. :) Seriously, like Andrew said, my doctor had to remind us the goal is a healthy baby. And in all of it, we have to remember that God is sovereign. Like I said, I had to remind myself of all this just seven months ago. We'll be praying (our guts out) that God will calm your fears and help you get rest for the big day! I'm so excited to find out what you'll have.

How exciting! I understand how disappointed you both must be (especially you!) But I can imagine that once you see that sweet little squished-up face, the whole ordeal will seem much smaller. I can't wait to see pics and hear your story!

I totally understand your thoughts and anxities. Your story is my story! i had the cervadil and pitocin. Pitocin makes contractions more painful than regular ones so don't feel wimpy if you change your mind and get druuged! As everyone has already said, the important thing is that you get to see your baby soon! I am praying for you!

I talked to Michael on the phone today.

Jenny had the baby last night around 8:30 or so. I won't tell what they had or any other details so that they can share the news. But the pictures should be up tonight or tomorrow on the hospital website!
