Help! I am in desperate need of a new look!!! I am vvvvvvvvery tired of my old "hairstyle" and would love any ideas for something new. I was just going to do the same old thing but found out that my hairstylist is retiring, so...perfect time to get a new 'do. I need some help! Anyone out there have any ideas? I'm open for just about anything new. Aside from primary colors or partial head shaving, that is.
Right now my hair has chunky layers in the bottom 3 inches. And it often ends up pulled back in a clip or ponytail. Boooor-ing.

Hmm... how do you feel about a chin-length bob-style cut? I don't think your hair looks booo-ring, but you need to feel good about it! What's Michael's opinion?
He agrees that it needs an update - but doesn't have a preference on how! We've been talking about it and neither of us have any great ideas. Hmm. I will have to mull over the bob idea. I had one in 6th grade and let's just say with my SUPERCHUB face of that year, it wasn't the most flattering! HA!!
Hi Jenny,
My hair is similar in length, style and texture. I recently added some bangs that come eye level. On a day when I am "going out", I mousse it, blowdry it and put it 5 big velcro rollers - 2 on the top, 2 on the sides and one for the bangs. I spray it with hairspray and leave it for 15 - 20 minutes. I then take out the rollers, brush it and Voila!! Instant body and easy style.
I love being a mom but I don't want "mom hair" and I don't want a high maintenance style either.
Of course, your hair looks fine but I know what it's like to really want a change. I am no expert in the field of hair color so I have no opinion. I would feel obligated to maintain hair color so I don't bother with it at all. It will be fun to see what you decide to do with your new "do".
you have to be willing to committ to a new hairstyle and not putting your hair in a ponytail - or else you will hate any change. You should cut ti short - maybe a chin length bob wouldn't be the most flattering, but you could certainly go a lot shorter with lots of layers. BUT it will be work - and that may not be what you're looking for. I would say that style is not always the easiest option- especially if you don't feel like you would keep up with it. Nothing looks worse than lots of layers that just hang b/c you're too tired etc.. to style them.... you know what i mean? This is just the thought process i go through everytime i let my hair grow and then go to get it cut! I get attached to my longer hair, freak out when i get it cut short and trendy, and then end up LOVING the change. It's up to you ! :)
Maybe you should see what your celebrity look-alikes do with their hair. http://www.myheritage.com.
if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks, you could join www.thehairstyler.com. You can upload a photo of yourself and they give you the specs on the cut as well a "How to" for styling. I have always wanted to try this, but I am too cheap. I am in the process of trying a new look. I got a slightly wedged bob back in January and loved it, but I need a trim and want to go shorter...especially for the summer. I too often put my hair in a ponytail, but when it was short and styled, I always felt put together no matter what I was doing. Anyway I'll look forward to seeing the "new do" at Julia's wedding!
Don't ask me. Have you seen my hair?
I have to add my disclaimer: a hairstylist I am not. That being said, are you opposed to playing with color? If not, I think some honey-golden highlights would look great (or even some auburn lights?)
I don't know if a really short cut is what you're looking for... not that you wouldn't look cute, but I've always found shorter cuts to be more work than longer. Shyla is right, you'll have to be willing to commit to styling regularly.
My official opinion is that you should keep the length, get it trimmed with long layers and some tapering around the face, and get some subtle highlights. Nothing drastic, but just enough to brighten you up and make you feel as gorgeous as the rest of use already know you are.
Love ya!
Hi Jenny! i guess i will put in my two cents worth, too.
i do love to get my hair cut to something a little shorter, but you are committed to syling everyday, even if you don't feel like it. otherwise, the cut looks HORRIBLE!! i would agree with Ruth...keep the length, just get it trimmed and tapered around the face, that way you can stlye--flip it, turn it under, or pull it back...but do some fun with color! i like to get highlights and color in my hair, it gives it some life without cutting it too much. i do think a longer bob (but with a few long layers) would look very cute and fun..
good luck and keep us all posted as to what you decide...
on a side note--how about curls???
Get some pretty drastic highlights. They do cost a little more than a haircut-- but it might give you the change you want and still leave the pony-tail option open :)
Hi Jenny,
I'm sure that whatever you decide, it will be smashing. We think you're beautiful (no matter how you fix your hair)!
Love, Mom Muth
i don't have much for advice... i would have to say i am in your same boat... my hair is about the same length as yours and i ALWAYS end up putting it in a pony tail. so, i guess i don't have any advice i just would say that "i understand."

Oh, my dear Jennifer. How can I resist taking part in this conversation?
I do love Mom Muth's very sweet answer. Ode to Joy if we all had in-laws so complimentary.
Sadly, because of sermon prep responsibilities I cannot engage any further in your problem. However, rest assured I will give it much thought with the occasional spontaneous fit of laughter.
I will offer that I am so very impressed that you would offer to me the privilege of input on this subject. That shows great growth!
Love from us both.
