a strapping lad
Well, Aaron is a shrimp. And we love him. At 4 1/2 months, he weighed in at 11lbs 13 oz and I went home armed with instructions to up the feedings. Today, at 5 months, the kid weighed in at 12lbs, 4oz. Our doctor says a gain of 1 oz per day is "normal" but I think he is crazy. (and I think someone's only been studying formula-fed children.) Our little guy is happy, healthy, and developmentally is doing great, exceeding the "normal" for his age. We have a happy shrimp.

I love your shrimp too! I'm glad to hear he is doing well in spite of his weight...maybe it is normal for the Muth men...would you agree?
I think your little shrimp is too cute!! Jack just had his 2 month appt. today and weighed in at 12 lbs 12oz...so we have a "chunky monkey" on our hands with this one!!! Drew was our shrimp and according to my records he was about 2lbs. less than Jack at this age!!! Don't worry...you would know if he wasn't doing well!!! Don't forget the dr. is there as a "guide line"...you are the mother and know Aaron the best!!! :)
Amen to that. Ian weighed in at 12 lbs. at 6 months and everyone was worrying about me exclusively nursing him. Of course, I did the same exact thing with Calvin and he was a chunk. So if they're happy, you're good to go.
Glad to hear you have a laidback view of what your doc says. It's so important for new moms to have confidence in the decisions God prompts us to make! We've never had a shrimp with Chloe - at 4 months she was a whopping 18 pounds. Her curve is well off the charts!
Always remember that a notch on the "average" growth chart at Aaron's age is ounces, not pounds. Your arms are blessed to have a little guy to carry around, my first was 16 lbs at 6 weeks, ouch! I was afraid I'd have a 40 pound toddler. Now she's quite petite and perfect at 15 years. Enjoy these days, they go by quickly. Every day is a blessing.
He looks just fine and dandy to me :o) Happy and healthy too!
Jenny...he is SOOO adorable! And, not from a mom's perspective or anything, but I think he looks good for a 5 month old.
Just wait, Jenny, before you know it he'll be taller than you! :)
I love his smile!
Awww, he sure is an adorable shrimp!! :) I agree with the other moms--you know your child best! And I think I read somewhere that the growth charts that peds. use really are based on formula-fed babies.
And as another commentor mentioned, the smaller babies are a lot easier to lug around! :)
